Due to high winds travel to and fro has been delayed in the eastern Prince Edward Island (P.E.I). It is caused because of the high winds in P.E.I. High winds are prevailing across the island and eastern P.E.I . A snow squall watch has been issued for the region. The restrictions on the Confederation Bridge were put around 2:00 a.m. on Saturday. Snow squalls are forecast to dissipate with conditions improving later on Sunday.
The Confederation Bridge has been restricted and a certain classes of vehicles are not being allowed to cross until the present wind situation changes. Even a bridge traffic restriction has been issued.
The restriction that has been put on the confederation bridge has delayed a lot of local newspaper deliveries including The Guardian and Journal Pioneer. The managers at the newspaper say that they have been told that the bridge might stay closed till 5:00 p.m. Also the newspapers parent company, SaltWire network has planned to use modified trucks so that they can be sent to and fro across the confederation bridge. The newspaper companies have also apologized for the inconvenience caused.
Amongst the restricted automobiles on confederation bridge are the towing trailers, motorcycles, high sided vehicles such as trucks, tractors trailers, recreational vehicles as well as buses. Even the Northumberland ferries will remain cancelled on the weekend crossing from P.E.I. to Nova Scotia due to the weather forecast.
