FCA extends the elimination of the third shift again at the Windsor Assembly Plant

    Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Windsor Assembly plant has announced that it is going to once again extend the elimination of the third shift until March next year. 

    It has come as a really good news for about 1500 employees that are working in the Windsor Assembly Plant. Once the extension was announced everyone in the plant got very happy. The first extension was announced in June, 2019 which was later postponed to October , 2021. Finally, in October, FCA said the third shift elimination had been extended “until further notice.

    Local 444 President Dave Cassidy, mentioned that after the first quarter the business is going to be reviewed on a “month to month” basis moving forward to determine the necessity of the third shift. He also added that sales obviously are going and things are looking good and they want to make sure that they maintain three shifts at the Windsor Assembly plant. Dave Cassidy also revealed that it is the strong sales that are to be thanked for this latest third shift elimination delay.

    This is the 4th time that Fiat Chrysler Automobiles has delayed the elimination of the third shift. Initially it was said to be cut in September 2019. In August, FCA spoke about the extension of the shift to the end of the calendar this year. But in October they said that the third shift elimination has been extended until further notice.
