Ford has finally confirmed its new electric SUV will be named Mustang Mach-E.
Ford will be launching the new mustang model on November 17, 2019. The special reveal ceremony will be hosted in Los Angeles by Idris Elba. This launch will happen at the annual Los Angeles auto show that is going to start in the coming week. Also, the unveiling of the electric SUV will be streamed live on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter at 9:00 p.m. EST. Initially, Ford was using the codename Mach 1 to refer its electric SUV and they decided on naming it Mach-E.
Till now the name Mustang has been used by ford only on a line of sporty coupes associated with Detroit’s 1960’s muscle car era. It is going to be the first time when a new electric SUV by Ford will be using the name Mustang.
The all-new Mustang Mach-E can be reserved by signing up on Ford’s website in the United States, Canada and Europe. This can be done by paying a refundable deposit of $ 500. Also, the reservation system will be including access to only a limited first edition set of cars and the details of the same will be provided during the launch event in Los Angeles.
Ford will also be introducing around 40 all-electric and hybrid vehicles by 2022. Ford is also going to partner with Volkswagen and will be building a minimum of 1 electric vehicle using Volkswagen’s modular EV platform.
The new vehicle has also been spotted a few times in the last few months in testing camouflage. It is anticipated that it will cost around $ 50,000 and will be available in rear or all-wheel drive configurations. Ford will be announcing reservation States for China later as the dates haven’t been finalized yet.
