Julie Payette to talk to students about her journey so far

    Julie Payette, Government general is going to beam into an all girls Saanich school to talk to the students of Saint Margaret school about her job, her experience in space exploration and everything else. Julie Payette is a former astronaut who has an experience of being a part of two space flights. She has served as the chief astronaut in the year 2000 to 2007 for the Canadian space agency.

    She will be speaking to Saint Margaret school students via Skype as a part of an interactive program which is aiming at involving students with the office of Canada governor general. Payette was announced the governor general of Canada in the year 2017. She is also an engineer, a business woman and former member of the Canadian astronaut Cops. Payette is amongst one of the four candidates those were chosen by the Canadian space agency for the astronaut training program. The school authorities and the students seem to be e very excited and anxious about this Skype conversation with Julia.

    Julie graduated from the McGill University in 1986 and has a Master’s degree in Applied Science from the University of Toronto Massey scholarship. Julia also happens to be fluent with six languages and also please piano. St. Margaret is western Canada’s first all-girls school and is also the first school in the Greater Victoria region which has been invited to participate in this interactive program with Julie.

    The students from classes 3 to 12 have submitted a number of questions where the express their curiosity about what is it like to be the Governor General of Canada, what has been her experience on being an astronaut, what has been the motivation for her to become an astronaut and also the benefits and challenges of being a woman in such a leadership role.
